Customs Information
A valid passport or both a drivers’ license and original birth certificate (not a photocopy) are required for US citizens traveling to the Bahamas. In January 2007 a passport will be necessary to return to the US. There is a $15 (cash) departure tax for each tourist leaving the Bahamas.

Traveling to Harbour Island By Air:
Several airlines offer service to North Eleuthera (airport code ELH), Harbour Island’s closest airport. Depending on your travel plans, you may choose to fly from Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, or Nassau.

From North Eleuthera Airport, Three Islands Dock is a short taxi ride. From the airport, be sure to tell your taxi driver you’re going to Harbour Island. A water taxi will take you across the harbour from Three Islands Dock on North Eleuthera to the Government Dock on Harbour Island.

Ocean Ferry from Nassau to Harbour Island
The Bo Hengy, operated by Bahamas Fast Ferry, is a 177-person passenger ship that travels regularly from Nassau to Harbour Island. The Bo Hengy will deliver you to the Government Dock on Harbour Island, and takes approximately one hour from Nassau. See www.bahamasferries.com (242.323.2166) for more information.

Arriving on Harbour Island
Once you have arrived at Harbour Island’s Government Dock, you can take a taxi to the Barton House, located in the Narrows, off Nesbit Street, just north of the Pink Sands Hotel. Just tell your driver you’re going to The Barton House, he’ll get you there!
